Joy

Here is the Christmas card I sent this year. I used my Cuttlebug and the snowflake embossing folder. I stamped the snowflake and sentiment using Papertrey Ink's Snowflake Serenade stamp set. I was pleased with the way they turned out.

Advent Calendars

I know. I haven’t posted anything in awhile. I worked in Austin for three weeks in October. Although I have a work laptop, I am not allowed to use it to update this blog. I was home for one week; then taught a class at my office headquarters. The class ended on November 21. I was pooped!

I get Thanksgiving day and the day after Thanksgiving as holidays. I look vacation leave on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving because I needed to chill. My favorite way to chill is to play with my stamps, paper, etc.

I had seen some cute altered advent calendars in a magazine. Right away, I knew I wanted to alter me a calendar. While in Austin I made my way to Archiver’s. If you are not familiar with paper crafts or scrapbooking, Archiver’s is an awesome scrapbook store, where I can easily spend hours. I found some alterable calendars there, but they were not exactly what I was looking for. You see, I had in my mind that I wanted a wooden calendar. Now all I had to do was find one.

One day while browsing through Target, imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon, none other than wooden advent calendars. I was so excited. I also had a crazy idea to alter not only one for myself, but one for my parents and each of my brothers.

I was ready…I had a project to complete. First I painted the calendars with Folkart Apple Spice paint; I added my favorite Basic Grey paper, embellishments and number stickers to the door fronts; then I put a small surprise behind each door. I was pleased with how they turned out.

Here are some pictures:

I started out with this.

Here is my version:

Glittered Pumpkins

I love fall, the crisp morning air, the pumpkins, scarecrows, and hay bales. So, when a friend told me about some beautiful glittered pumpkins that she had seen on Martha Stewart, I just had to make some. Of course, I now have glitter everywhere! Even though they were a little messy to make, I think the end result was worth it. Maybe I will be inspired to drag out the rest of my fall decor. Happy Fall......

Wedding Announcement

My brother got married last month. It was a small intimate wedding. They wanted to send wedding announcements to family and friends who were not invited to the wedding. Of course I was thrilled when they ask if I would make the announcements. This is what I came up with. I am so pleased with how they turned out.

My Blog Debut

My love of paper crafting began about five years ago. A friend invited me to a SU demonstration and I was immediately hooked. I slowly started collecting paper, supplies and tools. I gained much satisfaction from the cards I made. However, it never occurred to me back then to photograph my projects. I didn't discover blogs until last year...can you believe it? I was blown away by all the amazing talent and creativity of others in the blogging world. I also loved how each blogger was documenting their artwork. I would sometimes consider creating a blog of my own...but never very seriously.

This summer, my sister-in-law asked if I had pictures of the projects I have made. After our conversation, I started thinking again about creating my own blog. It has taken me several months to muster up the courage to begin my blogging journey. I still have so much to learn, but I have to start sometime. Right?

So my journey begins...Simply Stated...
